Pr4Win 3.00 Dez 18. 1997

                     Packet Radio for Windows
                   Internationalization project.

One of the major changes in Pr4Win version 3.0 is the new language
support. The main reason for this program is to prove the new
concept and to use your help to translate Pr4Win to as many languages
as possible. The feedback during this project should also improve the
usability of the program.

Anyone who wants to attend this program should be familiar with
pr4win (2.10) and write me a short mail that he/she wants to translate
pr4win to a specific language. I will include a list of translations
under way and the name of the responsible person on my WWW page.

The zip file you can download from my WWW page unpacks into
"c:\pr4win.300". If you use another directory you have to change all
path statements in the pr4win.ini file. Of course Pr4Win has to be
configured to your call sign and your TNC as you have done with
version 2.10.

All texts used in Pr4Win are now strictly separated from the program
and can be translated to any language without needing any help from
me, the program author. Of course the online help file and the
documentation could also be translated but I am afraid that will be
to much work, so I will send the Winword document file which is the
basis for generating the online help file only on request.

What has to be done:
For each new translation you just have to create a new directory
below c:\pr4win.300 and copy all files from c:\pr4win.300\english
or c:\pr4win.300\german into this new directory.

In the pr4win.ini configuration file you have to change the"CNFPATH="
entry to point to your new directory.

Then you just have to edit all *.txt files and translate all words
into the new language.

The file "dialog.txt" contains all messages that might appear in
dialog boxes or in the status line of Pr4Win. This file is read
whenever a dialog is displayed, so you dont have to restart Pr4Win
to see your changes.

The file "window.txt" contains all texts used by Pr4Win within the
screen windows. For each window there is a section with the Window
Class number as section name. The entries in each section consists
of a key and a value separated by a "=" character.
Only the values have to be translated and you should take care that
the translation does not become much longer than the original test.
Length does not matter for menu entries but is essential to static
texts and button texts.

To get the number from a window just press CTRL-SHFT-F3 when the
window is open and has the input focus.

There is a (ALL) section which contains tests used in all windows.
The all section is only loaded when prt4win is started, all other
sections are loaded whenever a window of this class is opened.

All other files contain help texts that are sent to the connected
station when the remote command "//help topic" is answered.
