1. INTRODUCTION
---------------

The program QRB & QTE is a simple program for the Windows environment,
that will calulcate the distance and azimuth direction between two given
points on the earths surface.

One must specify two positions, called Station A and Station B, and the
program will then find the distance between the stations, given in kilo-
metres, miles, or nautical miles, and the direction from Station A to
Station B, and vice versa (B to A). The directions can be displayed
either as the usual Degrees (from 0 to 360), or as Grads (from 0 to 400).

The position for Station A/B can be given in three ways:
- Latitude/Longitude as decimal
- Latitude/Longitude as degrees, minutes, and seconds
- QTH-Locator in the Maidenhead format

The "Latitude/Longitude as decimal" means that minutes and seconds
is given as a decimal number below 1.
i.e. 30 minutes is given as 0,5 degrees.

When Latitude/Longitude is to be given as degrees, minutes, and seconds,
one must use a special delimiter character between each unit; the forward
slash (/). i.e. 60 deg., 20 min., and 45 sec. is given as 60/20/45

The program can also be used as a "calculator" to determine the QTH-
Locator of a position, since on will see the locator as soon as one
have written the position as Latitude/Longitude.

There is also an "Atlas" search option, where one can search in either
a list of DXCC prefixes, or a list of "Cities" (user defined positions),
to be used as position for either Station A or B.

The list of "Cities" is mainly intended as a list where the user can
add ones own "favorite" positions. However, the list included with this
distribution also includes nearly 2500 cities and towns worldwide.

Another feature is that one can get a printout of the DXCC prefix list,
with the azimuthal directions for each position behind the country name,
where the position for Station A is used as a starting position.
One can also export this list to a file, which in turn can be opened or
imported into a wordprocessor/spreadsheet, to be formatted for printout.

The program also have context sensitive help, and one can also search
for help topics. There is also a "quick-help" system that is invoked by
clicking the secondary mouse button (usually the right) on a field (or
the label of a field), and then choose "What's this ?" on the pop-up
menu that appears. This system is mostly identical with the system that
is used in many of the newer Windows 95 programs.

The program QRB & QTE is distributed as Shareware, which means that it
can be used for evaluation purposes for a limited time period (60 days)
before one should register oneself as a user, and contribute with a
minor payment of about US$ 7 (or more), to support the continued
developement of the program.

... If you think this program is useful, and you find yourself using
it on a regular basis, you really should follow the above request
and register, or your conscience will bother you forever...

For more complete information about the useage of the program, one is
refered to the programs help system; click the "Help" button in the
main program window.

2. INSTALLATION
---------------

The program and it's associated files is usually distributed in a ZIP
compressed file archive, and needs to be uncompressed before it can be
installed.

The file QRBQTE2E.ZIP originally contains the following files:

 FILE_ID.DIZ
 QRBQTE.CT_
 QRBQTE.EX_
 QRBQTE.HL_
 QRBQTE.IN_
 QRBQTE.PF_
 QRBQTE.TXT
 QRBQTE2.IC_
 QRBQTE3.IC_
 SETUP.EXE
 SETUP.INI
 THREED.VB_
 VBRUN300.DLL
 VERSION.TX_

There is now a simple installation program for QRB & QTE, so that one
only have to start the program SETUP.EXE, and the installation will
start. One has the options of choosing the directory where the program
will be installed (default is C:\QRBQTE), and if there should be created
a program icon group in the Program Manager (Windows 3.1x), or a shortcut
on the Start-menu (Windows 95). The setup program can also perform an
automatic uninstall, should that be desired.

The following files will be installed to the chosen directory:

Files that are neccesary for the program to work:
 QRBQTE.EXE - The program itself
 QRBQTE.INI - Configuration file
 QRBQTE.HLP - Help file
QRBQTE.CTY - Atlas file, "Cities" list
QRBQTE.PFX - Atlas file, DXCC prefix list

Extra icons:
 QRBQTE2.ICO
 QRBQTE3.ICO

Other files:
QRBQTE.TXT - General info about the program (this file)
 VERSION.TXT - Version history
SETUP.EXE - Setup program, necessary for automatic uninstall
SETUP.INI - Setup information, necessary for automatic uninstall

In addition, the files VBRUN300.DLL and THREED.VBX will be tried
installed into the Windows system directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).
If these files allready exists, in an equal or newer version, they will
instead be placed in the program directory.
