Well, my last software search tried finesse (and various network
resource discovery services), and has yet to succeed, so let's
try a different approach...

I'm searching for software to convert scanned images back to
flat ASCII files (in English). Yes, there are lots of programs
for Macs and IBMs, but I'm on a UNIX box now, and not having
much success in finding anything on the net. (Yes, this is the
same query as a few posts back on comp.graphics...)

Rather sorry for the shotgun approach, but, as already
mentioned, I'm still looking for a good ACE (asynchronous
collaborative editor) after several weeks, and these are
newsgroups that I don't regularly frequent. Since I'm not a
regular, email responses would be best (and of course let me
know if you want a response summary report (If there are many
such requests I'll post it, too.)). Thanks for any solid leads.
