These libraries come precompiled for Solaris 2.3 users because I had a
heck of a time compiling them on my system with gcc 2.6.0.

To install, the best thing to do should be:

  cd /usr/local; gtar zxvf thisfile.tar.gz

I finally compiled them after fiddling with the "ar" flags, I think.
I changed it to "ar cq" or something.
I also made a link from /opt/gnu/CC to /opt/gnu/c++

At any rate, these should enable you to compile most, if not all, of the
examples in the UIT V3 package. You need to download the UIT package to
get all the docs and header files, etc., as well as the examples I just
mentioned.

I have included an "sh" version of their ENVIRONMENT file. Source it to
have things set up properly, BEFORE COMPILING.

Note that you may need the "Slingshot" libraries and headers installed in
/usr/local to compile a lot of this stuff.
I have included the slingshot libraries just in case you have trouble
compiling those.
