Thanks to John Carmack for releasing this source code. (ftp.cdrom.com)

Thanks to Suzy Deffeyes at IBM for porting Quake to AIX (ftp.tu-clausthal.de).

This is an attempt to bring Doom to the AIX platform.

Everything included in this archive is garantueed to have bugs.

I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any damage caused by this software.

I do not support this in any way, however I would be grateful if anyone helps
me to improve it. Please mail all improvements (not bug-reports, improvements
as in source code improvements) to raggen@hem1.passagen.se. I have tried to
mark the changes from the original source code in the AIX source.

The original source code for LinuxDoom1-1.10 is included in this archive. I got
it from ftp.cdrom.com where it's freely available.

This software has been tested with the shareware wad (included in this archive)
and the ultimate doom wad (that one you will have to buy). Both works.

Limitations:
No sound - all sound code is commented.
No network - Haven't looked into it yet, the code is there but I dunno
      how it works - yet.
Window doubling/tripling graphics error - the option aixdoom -2 and
aixdoom -3 gives a somewhat distorted display. Dunno if it's the
original code or if it's some max/min value that's wrong. Aixdoom -4
      works ok though....
The nightmare difficulty level won't start - dunno why.
Quit from the menu won't work on my machine, this has something to do
with the MIT-SHM extension. Just quit with ctrl-c from the aixterm
      you started the game from.
This release has no version number which should make it impossible to
distuinguish from other releases. Kinda sloppy. I could call it 1 or
      something.

...and loads of more bugs that is yet to be discovered...

How to start:
The executable in this archive is placed in the same drawer as this file,
you might want to try to run it. It's called aixdoom. If that one won't
start (most likely) you could try:
        cd AIXsource
        makefile
That will try to compile aixdoom on your machine. Please note that
makefile is not a normal makefile, it's just a script for the cc
compiler. If it compiles (most unlikely) it will create a file called
aixdoom. Move this file to the drawer where the doom1.wad file is and
try and run it. The doom1.wad is in the same drawer as this file.

If you've got a big screen use aixdoom -4 to run it.

Ok, have fun!
