EXTD=1979 American Grammaphone AGCD-365\n\nComposed by Chip Davis\nPerfo

EXTD=ngs
EXTT0=Toccata primarily means a touch piece, usually associated\nwith r
EXTT0=apid touch of the keys. The framework of this\ntoccata is from t
EXTT0=he 16th Century, and is in the standard\n5-part form, but slightl
EXTT0=y modified. The opening is the\nToccata up to the Melodic part (
EXTT0=harpsichord and recorder),\nfollowed by an Episode of quickly cha
EXTT0=nging scenes, then\nback to the Melodic section, and ending with
EXTT0=Toccata.\nHence, the 5-part form: TMEMT. The toccata form was\nus
EXTT0=ed many times as a fanfare, as it is here for Fresh Aire\nIII.
EXTT1=Small Wooden Bach'ses is a piece performed on the\nsame, in the s
EXTT1=tyle of the title. The keyboard, in this case\nis the Clavichord
EXTT1=, built especially for this album by\nLouis Davis. The violin is
EXTT1= performed by Steve Shipps and\nthe viola by Sue Robinson.
EXTT2=Amber is the color of this piece, appropriate to the time\nof day
EXTT2= that colors thought in an amber sort-of-way.
EXTT3=Mere Image, the title, can be taken in any of its three\nways. T
EXTT3=his piece was performed by the Omaha Ballet,\nchoreographed by Th
EXTT3=omas Enckell, and danced by\nNeils Simonsen. The subject of this
EXTT3= piece describes\nour progression from youth to old age. If you
EXTT3=keep in\nmind that the recorder and the oboe represent the child\n
EXTT3=in us, you should have no problem keeping track of\nwhere you are
EXTT3= in the piece.
EXTT4=About "The Woods is Alive": In the little farm town in\nOhio, wh
EXTT4=ere I grew up, "woods" was always a singular\nplace.  I only say
EXTT4=this now, because my friend Roger\nJones always used to complain
EXTT4=about this title, saying\nit was bad grammar and that it should b
EXTT4=e "The Woods\nAre Alive." But then when did they ever say "come
EXTT4=on,\nlet's go to the wood and play"? It's like "crick" as in\n"ic
EXTT4=k" like something you just stepped in. Not creek.\n\nThe tempo ma
EXTT4=rkings are taken from the speed they are\nperformed on the record
EXTT4=. Some pieces (Toccata - not\nto name names) may be more practic
EXTT4=al at slower tempi\n(plural for tempos).
EXTT5=
EXTT6=Solo performed by Claudette Criquet (no longer with us).\nBackgro
EXTT6=und vocals by the Birdettes.
EXTT7=At the time when the evening sky allows the first\npinpoints of a
EXTT7=ncient light to call out the night creatures\nof the forest.
