 | |I interviewed James Michener earlier about his collection of books,
 | |including the 13-volume _Hokusai Manga_ for an upcoming article I am

 | |Hokusai, but was wondering if anyone else had information on him or
 | |had some of his works? Does anyone know of anyone who also collects
 | |Hokusai books?

 |He is an illustrator and a painter in later Edo period; one of UKIYOE artists.
cut
 |Nowadays he was regard as a very popular UKIYOE artist in Japan.
I ,ve mistaken your questions.

In USA, Freer Gallery( Washington DC), Fine-Arts Musueum Boston
Chicago Institute of Arts, SanFrancisco Asia Museum
have great collections of prints and paintings of him.

Especially, many paintings in Freer, original woodblock in Boston
surprized connoiseurs.
