OLMOTD Version 1.4
------ -----------
OpenLook Message Of The Day Viewer.

DESCRIPTION:
Olmotd is a mechanism for system administrators to display
important messages to their users. Olmotd is set up so that if
you use the -newonly option, the program will only open up
if there is a new message. You can of course run it with no
options, and get the message regardless of whether or not
you have seen it before. Here at Project MOSAIC, we run
olmotd -newonly when everyone logs in so that they will be
sure to see and read these important messages.

To mark that you have seen the MOTD (Message Of The Day),
you must press the acknowledge button. Because of this,
the user takes responsibility for reading this message and
acting accordingly. Only using the acknowledge button time-
stamps the file in the user's account (.olmotdrc by default).
So until you acknowledge the MOTD, it will come up at every
     login.

BUTTON FUNCTIONS:
     Dismiss
This button closes the Olmotd application to an icon, and
DOES NOT mark that the message was read. In other words,
you will see this message again the next time you login,
and will continue to get it until you "acknowledge" the
message. See Acknowledge for further information.

     Acknowledge
This button marks the .olmotdrc file in your HOME directory
so that you will not see Olmotd again until there is a NEW
message of the day. If this button is never pressed, Olmotd
will open everytime you login showing the latest Message
	of the Day.

     History or MOTD
This button will toggle the MOTD (Message Of The Day) and
a MOTD history file. The Message Of The Day file contains
important information that all users need to know.
Displaying the MOTD file is the main purpose of Olmotd. The
MOTD history file contains a listing of previous MOTD's
and the dates which they were first entered.

     Help
This button opens this window with information about Olmotd,
	and how to use it.

OPTIONS:
     -newonly
This option causes Olmotd to open only if you have not
acknowledged the current Message Of The Day. This is
the usual method of starting Olmotd.

     -update
This option specifies the time (in minutes) that Olmotd
should wait before checking for a new Message of
          the Day.

FILES:
     /afs/uncc.edu/coe/public/MOTD motd directory
     <motd dir>/MOTD MOTD file
     <motd dir>/MOTD.history History file
     $HOME/.olmotdrc user's olmotd file
     /afs/uncc.edu/coe/unix/sunos5/app-defaults/Olmotd app
