Link Database Entry Button

Sometimes different pressings of the same CD title
can have different enough timing to appear as different
discs to Xmcd. Thus, when you load a CD that is not
the exact one that the CD Database entry was created
with, Xmcd may not recognize it as a match to the
database entry.

When this happens, you can search the CD database
to see if a database entry exists for this CD, and
establish a link (or alias) to it. Once a link has
been established, Xmcd will recognize this CD.

To search the database and establish a link, select
the Link button.

Using the link feature avoids the need for you to
enter all the information pertaining to the disc
again. It also keeps the database free of duplicate
entries (which may be different amongst each other).

When you select the Link button, a CD Database directory
selection window appears, allowing you to choose the
search directory. This limits the search to that specific
directory (if your current CD Database consists of only
one or no directory, then this step is omitted). Another
pop-up will then appear, consisting of a list of candidate
CD titles found in the directory. These discs have the
same number of tracks as the currently loaded CD. Select
the desired entry to link to by choosing the appropriate
list entry and then select the OK button.

When the link is complete, the selected CD database
entry is loaded and the CD Database Indicator in the
main window indicator area comes on.

If you do not see a matching entry, you may cancel the
search by selecting the Cancel button, and repeat the
search in a different CDDB directory.

If you cannot find the right entry in the search, then
this CD is not currently in the CD Database. You can
enter all disc/track information and add to the
database with the Save button.
